Do aftermarket radio's work with stock amp?
I searched but couldnt find anything but when you install an aftermarket radion do they work in conjunction with the stock amp(pioneer sytem 08SSTC) or do they just run their own power to speakers??
I'm looking at the kenwood dnx8120 and I was wondering if it will sound the same or will it lose sound quality?
Any help would be appreciated....

well, heres the thing, the radio will work with your stock amp, but the reason there is an amp in the first place s because the stock hu was essentially a preamp, so when you add an amplified hu to an amped system you can overdrive the amp and blow speakers/ channels, i have mine hooked up to the stock amp, but i know not to turn the volume up more than the stock ones went to , i need to find out how to remove my stock amp, and just use the hu for power

if you replace a head unit in any new gm vehicle you need an ecu adapter it costs around 100.00 bucks everything in the new cars are interconnected including the radio my cobalt ss and trailblazer both needed them. the have adapters for the ecu that work with the stock amp
well i added a new head unit that put 40 watts to each speaker, i thought the amp was in side the old hu from gm
and my sound system sounds like **** if its up to high, how much of a diffrence can 40 watts make?

well line level /rca/ pre amp power is measured by the voltage because its so small. every HU actually puts out exactly 22w per channel which is something like quadruple that of line level power. An amp bypass will fix your issue
