welcome to the world of cobalts!! it's unusual if you DON'T have some kind of rattle at some point could be some loose change, a piece of paper, anything sitting in the door, or is it 100% the door? i know with my mounts i can't keep anything in the cupholders, door panels, etc.

use some kind of sound deadening material under the door panel...it's all the lock mechanisms and ****...all cars rattle...dynamat is the popular choice, not sure what my friend uses but it is really nice and really cheap, i'll try to find out for you

that's one way to do it. my door rattles to, that and one of my dash pieces(easy fix soon enough). other than those 2 the interior of the car is....RATTLE FREE. lol without dynamat or any of that.

I've noticed that if I use the armrest it will rattle, but if i just slightly push back towards the door it goes away. I'll have to investigate a cheap route. lol.

post a how to on the door removal :-P

Guarantee you it's the door handle. Turn up the bass and stand outside your car and listen for the rattle. Hold the exterior door handle and it will go away. I dropped mine off at the dealer to warranty this, and they wrecked the car on me.

WTF-You took it in for a door handle rattle and they wrecked it on you? What did they do?
I ask cuz my father used to own a car dealership and I watched the oil monkey (guy that does the oil change) drop a 5 Liter off the hoist, it btw landed upside down on the workbench, which also double as the oil resevoir, made quite a mess, the 5.0 was a write off, and the oil monkey, I never saw again.

It was snowing out, so I guess whoever was to work on the handle was dicking around in the parking lot and managed to wrap it around a pole. Dealer said it was a hit and run.. I have a thread on it just search Denooyer Chevrolet and you'll find the full story.

Ya depending on whats rattling either apply sound dampening or live with it.... i may take the plunge and do one of my doors today to see if it helps. Dont use regular dynamat its asphalt based and will fall off. Look at butyl products (second skin, dynamat extreme ect)

LOL. If you want it done right, you have to do it yourself.

the outside door handle is your problem.
open your door or stand outside of it and you can see the door handle rattle.

Is it like a high pitched squeak noise?

Just to add to this my mother just bought a 2009 Cadilac CTS, in that new Black Cherry color they just brought back (I geuss it was a caddy color in the 70's) anyway she took in because of a rattle in the car, or in the shifter/tranny, the car was only 6 weeks old. they couldn't find the problem and after driving another CTS we realized it does the same thing it must be a normal sound. the problem is when the service guy was bringing the car down on the lift he A) left the door open and B) left his tool box under where the door was, so he put a huge scratch/dent (at least 16 inches long) in the drivers side door. So they say its going to take a few days to fix, they however want us to pay for the loaner car WTF is that. My pops used to own car dealership so he is a real ***** to deal with when it comes to this stuff, he freaks out, they give us the loaner for free, but add this comment as were leaving "its full of gas make sure you bring it back full"
We finally get the car back and what you know theres overspray all over the whole car, not just it feels kinda rough over spray but out and out different color sections of the car (you know when they overspray and the color goes a little cloudy where it is) you can see where the prep work stoped, 3 feet on either side of the door plus theres glue from the tape all over the car. To top all off for some reason they decided to take the back door apart and now it will not open.

350 sq feet of dynamat might actually kill all the rattles in a cobalt. thats all i could suggest.

honestly theres always going to be something that rattles in your car, i found trha out the hard(expensive) way. one thing would rattle so i would dynamat that, then something else would rattle, and it just kept going, your never going to get everything to stop rattling, but some can be quieter then others. right onw the only thing thatrattles in my car that i can hear from inside is the sunroof button and the sunroof shade. everything else is pretty good. but i have LOTS of dynamat in my car.
