factory amp into a project car

For a project car build; I plan on using a 08 cobalt ss factory amp and subwoofer with an aftermarket head unit. The factory radio sends a "radio on signal" to the amp. Will the amp work without his signal? If not, any idea what the voltage is? 5volt? 12volt? TIA

So many of us have replaced the stock radio in the balt with an aftermarket retaining the stock amp. The remote out using a standard wire harness will turn it on.

I do wonder why you would use the stock amp for anything other than a paper weight but im sure you have some good reasonings

my $ is going into restoration...the sound system isn't high on my list at this point in time. the sub fit is an easy out of the way install....amp came with it $30 all in.

gotcha yeah if you are using it in a cobalt upgrading from base sound then good enough. its setup a little funky so depending what all else you got, if the factory wiring for the amp is there for a simple plug and play or not... it may just make sense to do something semi custom with it.
