Few questions on stock headunit

Ok so I just got my cobalt last week, pretty much had everything I wanted in it too.. power windows (wow what an upgrade from a 95 s10) to cruise control. Anyway, there was two things it didn't have that I was looking for but for the price I figured I'd deal with it.

2010 sedan nothing too crazy.

It has to do with the head unit. It has the aux in on the front panel which is fine and dandy, but I've gotten somewhat use to ipod control on a head unit. I know it has the cat button on it for xm radio. Is there anyway to retain the stock head unit and add ipod control to the head unit?

Also, I know I saw some cobalts with steering wheel control for the radio, how hard is it to install that package if I ever came across it?

Thanks guys.

USA SPEC: iPod to Vehicle Interfaces

ipod control. double check that its the same for cobalts with xm by searching cobalt 2010 on the USA SPEC: Home site....

anyways....if you already have steering wheel controls, they should work with your radio...if not, it probably wouldn't be economical to install them...

+1 on the iPod interface. Yeah the radio controls would be nice but I'll shell out for the interface long before that.

Appreciate it guys.

Since your car has cruise, it could very likely be set up to have the audio controls as well, it would just be a matter of taking the airbag off and installing the trim panel with the buttons and plugging them in. However, that may or may not work with your current deck, I'm not sure. I'm on the side of swapping to a deck with a USB port from an 09+ car.

I have a 2010 Cobalt LT and I had no radio control on the steering wheel but I had the cruise control. I just bought a steering wheel with the radio buttons on it and it worked... The fact is that the clockspring has a harness plug for the steering wheel, I mean only one for cruise AND radio. So if you have the cruise buttons, the clockspring has the connector for radio too... So you just swap for a steering wheel with radio buttons or you buy the trim and you'll be fine Hope this helps!
