Footwell LED issue.
Alright so I'm currently setting up accent lighting to illuminate my foot wells and underneath my seats. I'm going to post a thread on how I did all this after I'm done, but I've seemed to have run into an issue. First let me tell you about my setup. I have four 48 led strips all wired in parallel. They require 12V and draw 1 amp or less. They are connected to a double throw single pole switch. The middle position of the switch is off. One side of the switch is master power, so that provides 12V DC off the battery and works perfectly fine. I spliced into the cigarette lighter and I am drawing from there. Now the other side goes to the pioneer amp (I have premium sound) and draws power from there. My goal was to have the LED's brighten every time the bass hit.

What I did was use the rear subwoofer speaker output (+) to get the effect. I found that out of the two positive wires going to the sub that the green wire offered the best effect. I hooked it up and it worked! My issue is that my volume has to be turned up to 3/4 of the way up to get decent light output. I measured the voltage to be 5.7 volts with no fluctuation. I think if there was a way to step up the voltage then I would have the desired light output. I'm not sure if a capacitor would remedy the issue, but I have no idea on what value to use. There are a few things that need to be considered though. If I turn up the volume to the max I don't want to be over 12V and I would rather be operating around 9V because at 12V the light is BRIGHT. I want to use the audio setting during driving, AND YES I KNOW IT ISN'T LEGAL, W/E!!! If you have any idea's or know how to fix the issue please help! Thanks for any input.

If by input line you mean the wires coming from the head unit going into the amp, then yes. The LED's respond best to bass. The other speakers are acting as mids, so it barely lights them up.
