hmm, well it's just a 6.5 motorized screen, nothing less, nothing more.

Also, what size speakers are up front on the doors on the base sedan's are they 5 1/2 or 6 1/2? i went out on a limb and bought some type s's for a good price, i hope they fit.

alright then ignore that second part in that post i did... since i dont have the right info on the screen i cant give you a 100% but im pretty sure all you will need to do is connect the video rca and a power ground (not sure what they would have for that)

im pretty sure all cobalts have a 6.5 speakers up front (not sure why it would change)

I've been searching for a while and cant seem to find the harness that lets you keep the steering wheel controls? any help with a part number would help tremendously

So why can't we keep XM with a new HU? I have a year free, but if I lose it with a new HU then I'll probably keep the stock one. I was hoping to put in a double Din Alpine DVD player, but its not worth it if I don't get my Xm.

Hmm... Anyone... As a recap, adding an aftermarket radio will be completely compatible with the factory Pioneer speakers, amp, and sub? Correct? DIC as well. Is there any special wiring (besides dash kit) or is it all plug and play? And lastly, Will the sub be on maxbass, or can you still control it like stock? I just always use mine at max. Never put a radio into a car with a factory sub before...

with my new headunit, you can still control the bass, but as for the stock pioneer, the distortion was controlled, but now when i crank it up louder, you can hear the distortion if you really listen to it loud, however my highs we're increased much more and i LOVE it

Has anyone heard of seen a wire harness adapter for the 07's yet? The Scosche GM17B for 06+ Ion's is a twin plug. Anyone try it yet?

Might I suggest in the FAQ that the applicable part numbers and the company's be added at the top. These are what I have to contribute.

Metra 99-3302 Dash Mount Kit 05-07's - $19.99USD

Metra 95-3302 DVD Flush Screen Mount Kit - 05-07's $20.99USD

Metra 70-2103 Wire Harness (Single Plug) for 05-06's - $27.99USD

If anyone is interested, i can post pics in a few days of my installs.

I have a Base pursuit, i put in two single din unites to replace the factory double din.

I put in a Alpine screen (No cd/dvd player) I then put in a CD/MP3/DVIX/DVD player under it.

It fit fine with the mounting kit i bough, however the brace was too small for it, length wise, it was modded for it. It's almost done, so again if anyone is thinking of doing 2 single din units i can shed some light.

I just talked to metraonline who designes the gmos-lan-03 adapters. They were telling me thats what i need for my 2007 without onstar or integrated pioneer system. So i went ahead and found it on amazon for $118 shipped. They said this part was released from them over 5 months ago. There just the manufacturer so you cant buy it directly from them but you can do a search on google and find it. So as soon as i get it i will let everyone know how it goes. Putting in a brand new pioneer 680-mp and i got the aftermarket ipod connector for it too.

Feel free to copy parts out of the FAQ I wrote on my mazda forum
http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69147

Obviously the model specific stuff doesn't apply as it was for Protege's

I just got my car back tonight, waiting for 5 hours just to be told that i would have to buy a 300.00 module in order to keep my DIC, in fact, it actually mounts under my new stereo and has its own LCD display for my DIC. So i called BS, and left. All i want is new stereo can anyone tell me how hard it is to install one, or some documentation stating that you dont need all that crap they try ot sell you.

Thanks

good onstar messes alot of stuff up

for 05-06 cobalts with the dic in the speedo all you need is the cheap $10 harness and cheap $20 kit.

fo 07 balts in not 100% sure but if your dic is in the speedo you shouldnt need the expensive harness/dic kit

no harness? not a good idea man.... so you cut your factory harness off and wired it like that? its so much easier to do with a harness and if you ever want to go back to stock its a hella lot easier)

Just thought i would throw this out for you guys. I finally went into the dash of my 06 LS and I think i can explain this a little easier for you guys. on the back of the head unit there are two places for wiring harnesses to be pluged into. on this particular model, only one is used. If you count the wires coming out of the head unit there are only enough for standard head unit functions. you have two for each speaker, power, acc, ground, and maybe one or two extra for dimming functions what not. the other plug accepts OnSTAR i guess. what i mean to say is putting an aftermarket head unit will not effect anything at all. as far as the SS models and the premium sound models I cannot vouch for because i haven't seen them. If anyone need pictures let me know quick before i close up my dash.

Radio 12v red/white + radio harness
Radio Ground black/white - radio harness
Radio Ignition (GMLAN Serial Data)
Radio Illumination gray (dimmer) + radio harness
Factory Amp Turn-on same as power antenna wire
Power Antenna pink + radio harness
LF Speaker +/- tan - gray +,- radio harness or amplifier
Notes: If equipped, the amplifier is in the driver side rear quarter panel.
RF Speaker +/- lt. green - dk. green +,- radio harness or amplifier
LR Speaker +/- brown - yellow +,- radio harness or amplifier
RR Speaker +/- dk. blue - lt. blue +,- radio harness or amplifier

It sounds like you do have the switch wire figured out as you have power. So all you need to do is Repin your harness.
You're a god. I was about to play the guessing game tomorrow If I couldn't find the rear speaker wire colors. (installing amp and 10's from my old car but leaving in factory head unit - had no idea what colors were positive and negative to splice into my level converter)
Thanks
