i have tried a few different things to try and instal my aftermarket radio... i do not have on star i have the 2006 ss cobalt with premium pioneer sound system.. so i thought this was going to be easy. i just got the standard cobalt wiring harness and well that failed miserably... it would power on but no sound would come out and my DIC was acting all screwy. i determined that it had to have somethign to do with the second harness/plug thing that was just left unplugged to anything because the wiringharness (standard cobalt one) did not have the second smaller harness... i have no clue wha tthe second harness is anyway. but it seams to control or effect my DIC in some way (and speakers aparently cause they dont work when my thing powers on... ive called many places and they all tell me i need some kind of "special" harness which no one has in stock and they all can order it for me for like 100 bucks... ... i keep reading that u can use the cheap harness but HOW AND WHICH ONE! i thought i used the cheap one but aparently not... please advise as to what harness and then what after that... something about repinning? thanks... any help will be appreciated..

Will the cheap harness that works for the 05 and 06 work on the 07 at all?
If so what is the part number to the one that works for a 07 balt with the 4 speaker system?

i dont care about chimes i just want to use my new radio.

no the 05-06 use a single harness the 07's use 2.... you must buy a 07 harness but they do make them in the cheap version that looses your chimes

Stock HU

07 G5 SE. Base radio MP3 with Ipod jack.
Replaced the speakers with Hertz, composites in front, 6x9 in the rear.
10" PG Octane ZR in ported box.
A pair of 2 channel Audison amplifiers with speaker level input.
All run through the stock head unit.

BEST SOUNDING CAR STEREO I'VE EVER HAD!

I've run top of the line Alpine, Panasonic, Pioneer, Eclipse, etc. I will only ever consider an aftermarket head unit for an older vehicle that lacks connectivity for modern technology. I now have an Alpine 9831 sitting on my floor waiting for a new owner.
The stock HU is damn good I must admit, It's just the surrounding speakers and lack of power that are the weakness.

I don't know about any other models, but I know that for the 2006 Cobalt LS, w/o onstar or the pioneer system or anything fancy at all, you can take the stock head unit, no problem at all.

There may be a problem for different models, I mean, Crutchfield and Best Buy have to have some reason to sell a $200 dash kit...

As for my situation, all it took was splicing the yellow constant power lead from the aftermarket HU into the red constant power in the factory harness, a ground, and a fuse tap into the windshield wiper fuse in the passenger side fuse block.

Hope this helps, i know the whole situation frustrated me...

so for those of you that can't reset your oil life without the stock head unit. put the ignition into the "ON" position and then push on the petal right to the floor three times within 5 seconds of the first push. Almost all GMs can be reset this way.

Talking

Yea stealth numbers 1 and 2 are completely false if you have a 2007, if you change that factory deck the fuel gauge doesn't work and you cant use any of the buttons on the sterring wheel to go through the DIC. In fact the entire instument cluster acts funny if you don't use the LAN harness with the 07's. Also the door chime will no longer work either will the delayed accy, because the radio keeps the accy running and the chime is output through the front left speaker.

not sure... you want it to be hooked up to the actual "fused" side. But if memory serves me correctly an actual fuse tap will be fused reguardless of which was its facing. a physical connecton wont

hey guys. im thinkin about gettin a 2008 Cobalt SPORT. with the 2.4 and the 7-speaker pioneer kit. its not gona be the 6-disc in dash its just gonna be the regular 1 disc radio tho. i am going to be putting in a pioneer double din DVD player Model: AVIC-D3 SKU: 8242458. anyone know the exact parts i will need for this setup? i want all the factory options to work in it, like onstar and the sterring wheel controls and all that. i dont wanna go the cheap way and not get a harness of any sort. i want them all for the most professional build up. so if u guys can help at all it would be appreciated.

u can order the cobalt without XM Radio and ONStar?
caz i saw some people with out the harnesses for this too???
caz i dont really want Onstar or XM.
do u have part numbers for the harnesses i need?
or again, where off the internet i can get em?

also, sorry to be a off topic, but can someone also answer this real quick for me too?
..if i get the sport package colbalt wit the 2.4l, can they order it from the factory without the 17" rims, and the spoiler? i have 17" rims for when i get the 'balt, so the cheap ones will do just fine, and i dont like the spoiler on the trunk. again im sorry for getting off topic.
