good ignition wire?

Hey guys I am going to be hooking up a second battery in my trunk. I got the Islolator and now I need a high amp ignition wire to run to the isolator...I was told that the deck ignition wouldnt be a strong enough through a tap in the wiper fuse..does anyone know a good ignition wire (color) under the steering wheel or near the fuse box that I can run?

brown wire in the ignition harness under the steering wheel. its ok if you dont power anything with it. if you need a good amount of power, use a relay.

Why don't you just use the wiper or sunroof fuse but run it through a relay?

I run mine off the ignition into the head unit, and it runs off of the wipers. I run it through a relay and it works fine. This is the second car it has been in and I have run it the same way both times. I have used a DMM to test that the isolator is working like it should and all is well. You could probably even run it from your amp remote turn on if you really wanted too. The isolator is really only there so that the second battery is not in the circuit during the starting of the car and when the car is turned off. Your remote would technically do the same thing but I wouldn't really suggest doing it that way.

That's why I said use a relay - if you run it through a relay, the source signal needs very little juice (the same effect as the amp turn on wire).

Should be able to get the relay at any auto parts store, or radio shack. A standard bosch relay should work just fine.

Here's some info: http://www.6066gmcguy.org/BoschRelay.htm

OK, you tap your windshield wiper or whatever fuse you are going to use as your "source" signal first (or the "switch" wire). Run that to terminal 85 of the relay.

Then, connect power directly from the battery (fused of course) to terminal 30. This will be your high voltage side that gets activated when the source goes hot. Then, connect the isolator to terminal 87 of the relay. Finally, connect terminal 86 to ground.

What this will do is basically connect the wire straight from the battery to your isolator whenever the source circuit goes hot.

That all depends on how much amperage the isolator needs, and I'm not familiar with how those work at all. For the source signal (the wire from the wiper fuse) you can use a very small wire, since its just activating the relay. But on the isolator side, I'm not sure.
