Having problems with Type R sub.
Im having a problem. I have a 12" alpine type r dvc 4OHM sub. I had it hooked up to this lightining audio amp. Its a 2 channel amp. B4.250.2 is the model. I hooked it up yesterday and seemed to work fine. Well i was on my way home today and amp went into protect mode. So i figured the amp fried well i have an old MTX sub laying around and it works fine not sending the amp into protect mode. My question is wich is messed up my amp or my Type R.
I know this amp isnt even close to strong enough for this sub, but i just wanted my 12" in there instead of that ratty ass 10" MTX. Any help would be great.

since the amp isn't matched to the sub, chances are as your under pushing your sub your actually overworking the amplifier, causing major heat on the components.
better to go with too much power capability than too little.

Well if your running the 12 as a 2 ohm load onto a 2 channel and bridging it then that amp may not like that load. is the mtx a d4 sub as well?
my first thought is the mtx is an S4 sub and the amp isnt having any problem bridged at 4ohms. But it might be having an issue bridged at 2ohms.
But just a thought.
