Head unit
What exactly should i be looking for in a head unit. I do not have the premium sound system or the onstar, but i do have xm, but it will expire in 2 months and i do not want to renew it again so i figured it was time to put in a nice head unit.
I know im going to want a front aux input like on the stock radio, but what else should i be looking for?
How many outputs?
Nice features...eq etc...?
single or double din?
I would get the cheaper harness for it, in all honesty i dont care about door chimes, but anything else? Are there other adapters that i would need, or install kit?
I have subs now with a LOC, and am planning on getting some comps for the front after i get a head unit
Any and all recommendations are welcome, and i dont want to spend over $200 on the head unit

I put an alpine head unit in mine and it works great, i bought a dash kit and harness off of ebay for 12 bucks. i spent less than $200 for the HU and harness and it took like no time to install it. youll want something with pre amp outputs too. you prolly wont find a good double din for less than 200.
heres the radio i got:http://alpine-usa.com/US-en/products...?model=CDE-102
you can buy that from Best-Buy for about $150 i think

What will you be using the aux port for?? If you answer is an iPod then you could just get an iPod ready HU and control everything from there while leaving the iPod in your glove box..
I have the Alpine 9886 and Im loving it so far but its $265+ tax, shipping...

Stay away from any of the dedicated iPod Alpine units...Part # starting with iDA- as I hear all kinds of bad reviews about them...
Heres a nice Kenwood for $219 - Aux Intput Optional, Front USB Input, 3 Sets of 4v PreOuts

Heres a Pioneer for $189 - Front Aux Input, Front/Rear USB Intput, 3 Sets of 4V PreOuts

i just didnt want to spend the extra money for an i pod adapter on the head unit because i already had the aux cord, but if the head unit comes with the ipod controls that would be fine.
Im really liking that pioneer premier head unit.

well since nobody really answered my question. What should i really be looking for in a head unit, so i can compare the pros and cons of every head unit.
I see a lot of different pre amp voltage outputs...which is better 2 or 4 or higher???
Do i really need a lot of the filters built in since i have them on my sub amp, and will have them on my amp for comps in the future?
Don't get me wrong i like the suggestions, but that really wasn't all i was looking for in an answer
Much appreciated

4V PreOuts is nice to have...Whether or not you need a full equalizer is up to you but I doubt you'll find one on a $200 unit...
Like most stuff you get what you pay for and those are some of the best choices in your price range...
