Head Unit Install Time?

I'm about to install a Double Din HU in my 06' SS/SC upon return from overseas and I was just wondering how difficult this was. I have done many HU swaps before and I'm pretty good with electronics but I was just curious. I'm installing a Kennwood DNX6140 with SWC, iPOD adapter and I got the PAC harness. On a scale of 1-10(10 being most difficult)how hard was it to do this install. About how lond did it take ya'll? Did the job require any special tools?

Thanx

My guess is like a 5 or a 6. I have put a single DIN radio in like 3 vehicles (not Cobalts) & I'm NOT mechanically, or electronically inclined. So, if I can do that, than you should be able to.

If not, call up Crutchfield & tell them your problem. They should help you (just don't tell them you didn't buy from them).

I bought everything from Crutchfield so I know I can get there help. I know they are a bit more expensive sometimes but the customer service you get is unmatched by any other company.

Crutchfield directions are ussually pretty good, but this is a really easy car to install a radio in, once you cut out the back brace (if needed) it should be simple, the hardest part may be the steering wheel interface programing. I'd say this is a 4 on the scale, and only because of the steering wheel controls and that brace in the back.

This brace your talking about, is it hard to cut out? I take it a dremel would be best?

A dremel will work really easily, I did my first one with a Pair of Wire cutters and some big pliers, Just cut and then bent till it snapped, It took me about 10 min to do it that way...so A dremel should be quick.
