head unit swap for gmc truck?

its a new truck with the same radio as mine which is the 6 cd pioneer but it has a black face plate instead of a silver one....and when I paint my silver dash parts victory red a black faced radio would look sick so does anyone know if the adapter in the back is identical?

Even if it is you will have to get the vin flashed to it by the dealer.
You might be able to just swap faceplates if that isn't where the vin is stored

if youre asking if you can use a new truck radio in a Cobalt.....the answer is no.

The radio bolts in place, but the trim doesnt fit.

The connectors plug in but the wires arent in same locations.

The radio wont turn on because the Cobalt and the Trucks dont "speak the same language" Theres no way to program the radio to make it work.

the truck faceplates are different then the cobalt thou. very close but not identical. they have different "shapes" one is more flat. so if u can swap faceplates is doubtful as well

Just find a black radio from a Cobalt and use that or swap the faceplates with it. That way you'll know it works rather than going through all the trouble to realize it's a paperweight.
