Help With Head Unit Install

Hey guys I would like to install a head unit, There are lots of contriversy with installing a head unit.

I have heard that you have to buy an interface.
I have also heard that you can just buy the 20 dollar harness. But I can get the module and the harness from crutchfeild for like 65bucks. So thats not a big deal.

I really just want my first install to be done correctly. The reason why I will be most likely going the interface way because its not that expensive and Its most likely and easier install.

Also I have heard of bad things going wrong when people use the cheap harness. I have heard of Airbags not deploying in a crash and Fires happening in the car and such. Not sure if these clames are true. But to be on the safe side I think Im just going to buy the interface.

What im asking is is this for sure to work. I have a 2005 Pontiac Pursuit( basicly and 05 Cobalt)

And I am also woundering how to install this head unit that I am going to buy

http://www.crutchfield.ca/ProductDet...ode=142GM1587B
http://www.crutchfield.ca/ProductDet...ode=1272RGM11B

This Is what Crutchfield suggests.

I am also wondering what the best way to install a head unit is. I am think I might just use but connectors.

I am also wondering how I know which wires to connect together. Do you guys have a wiring diagram some were that i could use?

Hey there , where about in Canada do you live?
Do not worry my friend, the installation is easy and simple.
Make sure the company guarentee's all factory settings and chimes will be kept with the aftermarket wiring harness.

Basically A brief summary of installation:

1) disconnect your cars negative terminal.
2) Use a flat head screw driver to pop off the trim around your stock stereo.
3) After you have all trim removed there should be 2 bolts to unscrew, remove.
4) Factory deck should pull out, unplug wires that are connected and keep factory deck.
5) Take out plastic harness and read instructions to install into area provided
6) take wiring harness and plug into given plugs coming off the old factory deck
7) Connect wires to properly labelled wires on back of your new headunit
ex. (+/-) left and right speakers (probably green/green+black ) to coinciding wires.

8) enjoy!

Ok ya that sounds pretty easy to install. Im going to order the stuff when I have a chance.

What do you guys think is the best way to attach the module to the head unit? Would you guys just use electrical tape, or butt connectors or solder

And after I get my head unit set up I want to set up my Alpine MRP-M500 amp with 2 10 inch phoenix gold subs.

What wiring kit should I get. Does it really matter. & whats the difference between gauges.
Do these look any good?

Or should I go else were to buy a wiring kit.

i would try elsewhere... maybe knu konceptz

the mtx looks like cca and so does the efx. look for 8g real copper. the real copper streetwires or fosgate or anything of that nature works well

buttconnectors are fine for the harness
