How can I fix rattles

well I decided to install my sub and amp after having it sitting around... I have noticed now that my rear speaker deck and rear view mirror rattle a lot. What have some of you done to cure this. I know the deck rattles against the window So i was thinkin about putting something in between the 2. Im Just looking for a solution to the rattles that doesnt cost a ton.

i would have to say DYNAMAT, then more DYNAMAT, but your looking for low cost

try your local home depot, in the roofing dept, they sell rolls of tar on one side, and like chrome on the other side, these rolls come in different width 4" 6" 8" 12" & 16"

i recomend the 8" you can cut down small pieces, just wipe down the section where you'll install it, then use a wall paper roller 1" wide and roll it evenly

an 8" roll comes in about 20feet long so 1 roll should be more than enough usually priced @ about $20.00 a roll

you dont need to slap it all over the place, go with the feeling knock here and there where you hear the rattle, thats where you need it

good luck hope this helps

If i need to I will go pick up a dynamat trunk kit from best buy or something... I have some off brand stuff that I got on ebay for my cavy. seemed to help a lil but I think I may go for the real brand stuff this time and just use whats left of the other stuff.

If your gonna get dynamat, dont buy it from best buy. By me the dynamat trunk kit costed 190$ at best buy. i bought it from amazon.com for 80. OR you can try a local body shop. Auto body shops use dynamat all the time in repairs, im sure they can hook you up with a price better then best buy.

take off ur rear view mirror (unscrew and slip off) and throw a strip of dynamat on the stub on the windshield... slide it back on and cutoff all the excess that squeezed out.

Cool I would of never thought of that... I would of thought there wasnt enough room inbetween the windshield stub and the mirror mount

look up fat mat on ebay. its a reputable brand and you can get 22.5 square feet for like 50-60 bucks shipped, 50 square feet for 80 bucks shipped, and 100 square feet shipped for no more than 150.

a dynomat trunk kit is like 130 usd or something and its only like 20 square feet

neither did i but after the screw loosening for the second time i took it apart and got creative. I put a lil more then just on the stub but quite a bit sqeueezed out and it was a PITA to put back on but after doing it to a customers malibu and just putting the single piece on the stub it worked the exact same. I haven't had any issues since

u cant stop the shaking... lol im not god here. The window itself is what is flexing and since ur mirror is attached it shakes. So to fix the "shaking u have to either brace the window or attach the mirror to something more solid. oh fyi dont know about u but my roof moves as much or more then the window so thats not all that great of an option

well stripped the whole interior and dynamated the whole thing.... I must say THIS IS AWSOME. I installed some mtx 6x9s in the rear speaker deck along with all this and im inpressed. Now im just waiting for some mtx components that I checked out to come in stock and I will be doing that also. All thats left is to dynamat the doors. So far Ive used ruffly about 40-45 square feet of check stuff I got off ebay a while back along with about 60 square feet of dynamat through the whole interior and trunk.

I used most of the cheap stuff on more solid areas of the trunk... the roll was 50sq feet but I used some on my cavy so it was about 40-45 sq feet and I got 60sq feet of dynamat.... so for the trunk, and interior so far Ive used a total of 100-105sq feet of sound dampening.... and I still have the doors to do
