how to clean a harness

so my headlights i been fucken with for a while but they work i just have to like play with the main harness to get it to make contact with the headlights and give power so my main harness is kinda blueish with that **** in there so i cleaned it off with sandpaper but i cant get down in the female in obviously so i know someone has like a mixture i can use or some kind of fix.

i think i heard lemon and baking soda works but i want to make sure before i go sticking **** in my car and fry the wires.
