We just bought a 06 cobalt and it only came with 1 key thats it. I know we'll get the key cut by GM but we would like 2 keyless remotes. I called some dealerships around here and it's about 180-200 for 2 programed remotes. I can find ones on ebay for 15-40 bucks however since I don't have the original remote I do not have access to the orginial FCCID #. Is there anywhere on the car I can find it or maybe in a database? am I correct that if I get 2 06cobalt remotes with the same ID it won't work unless it matches my cars ID.

i would also double check to see how much it is to program a remote bc thats probably a dealership thing too

I can program the remote myself it's pretty simple process but they'll charge me 30 bucks for it. I'm thinking maybe I'll buy one remote from them it should have the FCC id number on the back then I'll do the second one myself because no one seems to know how to find the number or what will work and I don't believe they will just give me the number.

idk i could tell you the number on the back of mine but idk if that would help or work. its not a fccid thou it says GM/L

Yeah the GM/L is part number it's what I need and I believe if I find the same number on EBAY it should work.
