How many watts is the base system?

I want better speakers, but I am afraid that if I get ones that are too good they will be underpowerd and not really sound any better. I find that the stock speakers are harsh and the whole system lacks mids. I really wish there was a mid control too. There is enough bass really, but I guess I could use a bit more. So basically I would like to just change the speakers to keep the price low. Will this work?

Well, I just had all my factory speakers replaced, and they are nothing but cheap felted paper.

I went with Alpine components and 6x9's. The rears are 3-ways and they sound decent, but I'm still on the fence about amping them with a 4-channel amp. It would probably help as I find that sometimes they sound underpowered even with my Alpine head unit rated at 60wx4. Hope that helps.

I did what CobaltDude81 did... was shocked to see paper speakers and the fact that on those paper 6 x 9's there was an 8 oms emblem.... anyone else find THAT weird?

Am I going to have problems if I put normal 4 ohm speakers in the doors if they're rated 2 ohms with the stock headunit?
