Installing my AVIC-D3

I got the main system hooked up last night, but didn't bother to get to the small details. Before I tackle the job, I figured I'd ask a couple of questions.

-What wire and where is it do I tap into for the speed sensor and reverse sensor?
-Is there anywhere to "acquire" an east and west DVD disk? The person I bought it from didn't care to include it. I'd rather not spend any more money than I have too, so does anyone have any copies or know where to get some?

Thanks!

Speed sensor is under the hood...I can't remember what pin it in, but it comes off of one of the big harnesses. I didn't hook mine up and the GPS works perfectly.

The reverse sensor you can just connect up to your back-up light wire. You don't need to hook it up really unless you're installing a back-up camera.

You can find the discs on eBay, but make sure you buy the disc that is for the D3, they have different discs than the Z series ones. Make sure the disc says "For AVIC-D3" as those are the only ones that will work.

Check out avic411.com its a great site for the AVIC units.

Thanks for the response. Found the wire for the VSS, pin 61 gray wire in the passenger side kick wire.

Do you know what wire specifically is for the rear lights? I don't have a camera yet, but I'm getting one.

Nothing on eBay for the discs right now... can't find anywhere to download the files either. Maybe I'll toss a pay-pal dispute if this guy doesn't get back with me about the discs.

And I know all about avic411. It's where I bought the h/u at actually. I got a hell of a deal.

No diff wire. That grey wire doesnt work on all cars it is the cuise wire.

You need to get the wire from the ecu under the hood.

There are three harnesses on the ecu, it is on the bo0ttom harness, yellow wire. Only yellow wire in the harness, thats the wire you need

Yep, I tried tapping that pin-61 wire, it didn't work, don't listen to anyone who says it does lol. It's under the hood.

I don't know what wire, but I would just do it when you run the wire for your camera, you can just run a wire back to the rear lamps and find the one you need.

damn, have to run more wires through the fire wall suppose I'll just follow my WOT box wires.

i'll have to find a wiring diagram on that reverse light. i'd rather find it somewhere in the dash instead of running it all the way back to the trunk

Yeah I'm sure there is a wire up there, I just don't know where it would be. Maybe on the BCM somewhere.

just tap the fuse for the reverse wire, it doesnt get power until your in reverse so that is what you will use to get the signal from, it works.

I tried finding bootleg versions of the D3 discs, and unless they have been put up recently, they don't exist.

i know it's possible, i've read all over avic411 about people making back ups of the original disks. only bad thing is, no one seems to want to share an original file can't find it on any P2P sites (at least not the disks for the D3) and i don't know anyone local with the disks so i can rip and burn them myself.

i'll just wait till one maybe pops up on eBay

Got the seller to respond to me. He's shipping me the disks today. When I get them, I'll look into making back-ups and sell them at the cost of a DVD+Shipping so all the D3 owners can have spares.

I figured it couldn't be too terribly complicated.
