Installing Subs

Hey,

I installed two type R subs into my car, I had best buy run the wire because I had no clue what I was doing. Well, about a year later the wire had come lose and ripped the wire to my key and my key wouldn't come out of ignition. I luckily got the dealership to fix it but I had the whole system taken out. Is there somewhere else I could run the power wire too so I don't have this problem. I miss my subs .

Dude I Would Just Run It Straight To The Battery In Your Trunk. Just Make Sure There Is A Fuse Between The Battery And The Amp.

wtf, why did they run it too your ignition? Run the AMP wires directly to the battery in the trunk and the remote turn on wire to your fuse box

Actually, I think I meant remote wire instead of power wire. It was right under the steering column. It messed with my key lock though. However, you guys just ran everything to the battery?

Remote should either
A) be hooked up off the remote turn on lead from your Aftermarket HU.
or
B) or into the windshield wiper fuse in the fuse panel if you have the stock HU.

When you say power do you mean power for your Source Unit? The remote on probably comes from your unit and they probably used that to power up your source unit. I would go to best buy and flip out on the installer who used your ignition wire for that. Pitch a fit and tell them how much trouble they caused by that.

Even if it was like a year ago? I took my whole system out because I knew it was part of problem and I wanted it covered under warranty which they almost didn't do. Should of bitched out best buy then but didn't think they were reason till after the fact.

The wire I am talking about comes off the amplifier. It was a blue wire they ran up to the ignition. The rest was hooked up to the battery and the ground to a bolt in the trunk.

why can't you use an add a fuse and just an empty spot that is on with the ignition but off otherwise?

In my LS most of the empty spots have no contacts to even run power through them. That saves GM a whole 2 cents...I wish I had a way to have RAP with my aftermarket HU
