iPod Control Through USB Stock Stereo
iPod Control Through USB Stock Stereo
Alright, so first time I connected my iPod through the USB to the stereo, it worked flawlessly...was able to search through the menus (playlists, artists, songs, etc.) using the controls on the radio and on the steering wheel.
Then the second time, and every time since, it doesn't seem to work? I can access the menu through the radio buttons to get to the menu, but it just says there is no content on the iPod...yet when I play a song using the iPod it plays through the car speakers no problem. Also, the controls on the wheel do nothing to change songs etc. on the iPod, like it did the first time?
Read through the owner's manual to see if there was any trouble shooting points there, and of course there isn't. All it states was that it the iPod may display either the GM logo on the screen, or a message that it is safe to disconnect the iPod...Neither of these messages are displayed, but the iPod does say it is charging.
Anyone have any ideas or know a fix to this? It is driving me nuts to have to fumble around to find my iPod to change the song...
UPDATE:
Alright so after spending 2 hours straight out there messing around with it trying a million different things I have it figured out...oddly enough, you have to connect the iPod to the cable first and THEN connect the cable to the radio...that is the only way in which I could get the radio to work using the radio controls to change songs on the iPod. If you connect the cable to the radio first, and then the cable to the iPod, it will not work. Go figure?

Can't you just do the Nav through your Iphone?
I hate everything Apple thus have boycotted them, but my brother has the Tom Tom app on his which gives him Nav. If you can connect the Iphone to the HU then in theory you should be able to get Nav through the phone on your HU
Like I said in theory, I don't know if it would work or not but it might be worth a try. This also goes on the assumtion that you guys have Iphones, but since everyone in the god damn world has one I just figured it was a safe bet.
