I just bought a used Avic D3 and it should be here in a few days. I have a few questions for you guys about it.

1 - Where do you get the little 'frame' that goes around it so it sits flush with the dash?

2 - If I buy this Ipod cable for it, I'll be able to control the ipod from the D3, correct? http://cgi.ebay.com/PIONEER-CD-I200-...3A1|240%3A1308

3 - Where's the best place to go to get one installed? I was thinkin a best buy or something but idk if you have to buy it there for them to do it.

4 - Where do you buy the thing that lets you control everything from the steering wheel again after the stock h/u is gone?

5 - The one I got doesn't have the nav discs. Is there somewhere where I can just rip them onto a dvd from my computer?

Answer to your questions:

1. you can buy the frame from a company called metra which you can find on the web. Also, any decent car audio installation place should be able to supply it.

2. yes that cable will enable you to control your IPod with the D3. You can keep your IPod tucked away in your glove compartment and control everything from the D3.

3. Not sure if I would use best buy. My choice would be to go to a good car audio installation place in your area. Try looking in the phone book or on the web. Make sure they have done D3 installations before.

4. It's called a Pac steering wheel interface, and you can fine it on the web, just google it.
Also a good car audio store should have it.

5. Go to www.avic411.com someone there will probably sell you one.

 

The avic d3 should come with the disc when I bought it in was inside the box
