Changed out the deck in my LT for Rangerondubz's MP3 deck... now, of course, it's locked. I forgot how to unlock it... Do I have to take it to a dealer?

i know on alot of gm cars u just hold the mute button for a few secs to un lock but unsure on the new ones

 

Act dumb and maybe they'll unlock it for free

 

They have the vin in it and has to be reprogramed by the dealer.

 

My dealer will probably call the cops or something, knowing them. Either that, or they won't know what in the hell I'm talking about.

 

How much do they charge to have it unlocked/reprogrammed?

 

i just shut my car off, get out, lock it, wait, then unlock it, get in and start it and it worked everytime.......try that before going to the dealer!!

 

I don't see how that could work. Its not supposed to work that way. Worth a shot though I guess...

 

it worked, its a security feature thats what i was told....and so i did that, and wala!

 

care to elaborate the "lock it, wait, unlock it" part please?

 

well....lock the car with your clicker, wait a few minutes to let the security feature reset, then unlock it with the clicker, and start the car again....seriously try it. That worked for me the times it happened!

Err.. well, I locked my car last night.. waited until this morning, got in and unlocked it... Guess what... still doesn't work :\

Don't try me or I'll steal your new one too.

 

I just took it to the dealer where I bought the car, said I purchased the HU from a friend.

They just reprogrammed it with their Tech2.
Charged my 1/2 hour worth of work, which was 29$ CDN for me.

Never had an issue after that.
