looking for a little more thump in the sub

hey all,I have an 09 SS with the factory 7 speaker pioneer set-up,2 tweeters.2 front door,2 rear deck and the sub in the factory mounted box.I have replaced the 2 door with infintiy"s as well as the 6x9 with infinty kappa's and the sub with an alpine shallow sub in the factory box,it sounds much, much better than it did, just looking to hear some more of the sub without having to crank the radio up,any ideas?

get an aftermarket head unit to where you can seperately controll the signal strength that does to the sub amplifier

infinity's are great, rear 6x9 kappa's really made a difference in the rear sound, nice and crisp.Would like to see if adding a small amp possibly to the factory set-up to bump up the sub slightly or other options as I'm not sure if the sub pulls its power right from the amp or jumped off of the rear speakers.

in the 06 that i have, it is, as you say, "jumped off the rear speakers". I have a pioneer avic z1 and when i turn the rears down or off, the sub goes with it.

yes the stock sub and rear speakers are on the same 2 channels out of the factory amp. So for sub control you would need an aftermarket sub amp as well.

Get an amp for your sub and a new head unit that allows you to filter the level of frequency you to shoot to the amp, like an alpine

if i was going to do a full audio install, which i really want to do. i would replace the head unit, door speakers, rear deck speakers, and remove the factory sub and box and put in a single alpine type x 12. then have a 4channel amp for the speakers, and a mono for the sub. all alpine speakers/amps/headunit

if you change out that HU make sure you spend the money on the harness for the OnStar would be a gross waste of money if you lost one of the best features GM offers
