LOW volume output of new head unit
LOW volume output of new head unit
freshly installed pioneer 4100 deck works like a champ except the volume has to be cranked to 62 (max volume) to hear anything at all. Whats the problem here?
2007 LS model, non pioneer system in the car but its a pioneer deck....used the PAC C2R-GM11 at first then cut the connectors and just did direct connect since it needed to be re-pinned anyways.
i dunno, my buddy is an electrician and did the wiring. I certainly trust him the most when it comes to that stuff. Could it be something to do with a fuse perhaps? My gauge cluster lights are out as well as my rear running lights. I know that should be just a fuse but we will see if that fixes something.
I appreciate the help...
another thing, I had the speaker wires spliced directly from the wiring harness to the harness that comes with the deck and got no audio and now that I hooked up the RCA's instead and I get sound but really faint sound. Any idea what thats all about?

electrician doesnt necessarily mean good with cars... sounds like the gm lan is being tapped for something. also sounds liek the pac harness was fucked to begin with and no way u can return it now
buy a metra gm-lan-03 and follow the instructions

the GM lan harness came with RCA's and not just a normal speaker wire setup. Granted I tried cutting those off and wiring them to the head unit speaker wire connections with no luck. That gave me no audio. I also dont have the clips that hook the harnesses together. So if i got a metra harness I would be altering that to hook **** up. I have all the wires spliced exactly how they should be and from where they should be. The speaker cables are the ones that dont make sense since I bought a PAC C2R-GM11 and I cant find any information on those ones coming with RCA's on it.
ahhh they gave me a GMCOL11 thats why...still says compatible with 2007 cobalt

you have to realize that my setup is weird right now.....the clips coming from the cobalt are cut and gone so that I could splice the wires from the car to the wire harness (gm lan). In doing that the chime retention thinger is gone and im fine with that and also I have the RCA speaker wires hooked to the head unit.
I have the worst luck...
my rear running lights dont work as well as my gauge lights. I check all fuses under the hood and in the fuse panel in the passenger seat area and nothing is blown at all. What could be the problem? This problem stays regardless of the head unit hooked up or not.
stock 4 speaker setup, no amp

sounds like ***** all messed up. and im thinkin the gm lan wire is being tapped messing up the lights
what id recommend is starting from scratch and scrapping the stupid module. just direct wiring the speaker wires, ground and constant power. then running an acc from the fuse box

thats exactly what I have going on...I scrapped the GM LAN harness a couple days ago. I am still having issues even after that. Gimme a minute and I will take some pics for you.

The PAC C2R-GMCOL11 is for Factory Amp..........
If you have the Factory Amp, be sure the Blue or Blue / White has 12 Volts when radio is ON.
Otherwise, the vehicle may not have an AMP, which would explain the "low" sound.
Some of the adapters require you to cut off the RCA connectors & Hardwire to the cut wires
the blue from the headunit is to be the remote turn-on for an aftermarket amp correct? Where else could i connect that?

ya scrap the rcas... that explains the low volume. those should be hooked up to the speaker outputs. Make me a list of exactly what wire color in the cobalt harness is hooked up and to what most importantly what the red acc wire is hooked up to
dont connect the blue/white remote turn on wire to anything

ok so scrapping the RCA connectors and going with the other speaker wires worked like a champ. I have no idea why it didnt work to begin with but I dont care anymore its working perfectly and sounds great.
EmperorJ thanks for all the help
