Last question(s) regarding these bi-xenon projectors:

Was it a pain to get these into rotation? Some projectors can be a real PITA (e.g. - FX-R's, etc.).

I was also just curious if all you did to mount these was the secure locking nut on the back (assuming used with loctite so vibrations, etc. don't get to the best of you).

These projectors are very easy to aim compared to FX-Rs, it took me less than 20 min to get both headlights aimed.

And to your other question , yes I only used the locking nut in the back and they've been holding great since the first day I mounted them to the car, I still have access to the back of the projector just in case they need to be rotated.

Fair enough. I talked to Matt at TRS. I'm getting 2 sets of these ... for my DD and the cobalt.

Good job. I've got my set of new headlights sitting here all apart waiting for the parts. I've been working on performance for a while so haven't had the money for the pretty. I think I'm going to have to alter my priorities for a while. I was going to go with the TRS setup but after seeing your mini install I think I've changed my mind. They really do look good with that car color.

it's not the "projector" per se as moreso the lense itself.

Clear lense will give you greater color and sharper cut off vs a fresnel lense

then you can start putting in bulb spacers to widen the light patterns overall, but you lose cutoff clarity.

**** i just realized these are as easy to install as the PnP projectors i have in my SC2/ that buy hids is selling.. they're a big bigger then the G1's it looks like

thats exactly what I had to do to make the G1's fit on my sc2 (not because the butt was too big but because i needed to move the projector up and into the housing)

the pigtail is about all that's the same, that's where it ends LOL

The lense, projector, using a TRUE bulb (D2S) are what make this kit 15x better than the $130 one from whatever company in China that makes the other plug and play kits.

look again.. the "original" one is a H1 btw not all projectors come with D2S lol thats a n00b mistake man lol btw

also.. they're not OEM ones.. lol what car do they come off of? look at the ballasts they're made by morimoto..

the morimoto's look like the combo of the G1's and G3's wider cutoff (due to wider projector bowl) but still the "normal " cutoff line

not saying they're not great projectors but after there are a bunch of places that are comparing them to the G1 and G3's i'll admit the're alot wider but **** lol idk how much that matters at that point..

the projector itself is longer on the morimotos as well as slightly wider and the cutoff shield is rounded instead of straight.. which would account for the different in width

I'm not a noob in this department asshat!

Yes, the original ones came with H1's and not all projectors come with D2S style bulbs, I know this

And comparing OEM to OEM, I am referring to OEM spec light output, not the projector itself. These projectors have better cut-off, light output and beam pattern than most OEM spec projectors.

I'd like to see a cut off of the Gen "whatever" you have compared to these. I'll put $ they're not as clear and sharp.

We're comparing apples and oranges here in terms of different projectors and bulbs. It's like comparing an open bowl E55 projector to an FX-R. You're gonna get two different light beam patterns and cut-offs

EDIT: I'm actually looking forward to the S2k-R projectors coming out!

i really need to get some pictures of my cutoff aside from my garage pics/ my cell phone pics lol

this is mkulreys

i'm not saying the G1's are better by any means .. but i'm probably going to get a curved cut off shield made for them

the cutoff on the g1's is as good as most stock projectors but yes the morimotos are better

Fool!

That's not a bad cutoff. Some hotspots and it looks like your rotational alignment is needed on the right side, but overall, not bad.

yea rotational alignment was off and the hot spots above the cutoff is probably because of not fully painting the housing i have the same issue on my car.. only slightly less you only notice mine when i'm withing 10 ft of a wall lol

but i think thats going to happen regardless.. the thing with the G1's is the shroud is open backed so theres a small spill out the back of the projector .. which i'm sure would be present with the morimotos given it's an open bowl design

i'd say morimotos >G3's >g1s on the subject of width they're all damn clear and they're all priced that way too lol but on a 1-10 scale.. a morimoto would be a 9 a G1 would be a 7 lol imo .. but that doesn't mean a whole lot lol

arman the G1 and G3 take a proprietary D2s bulb .. thats the BIGGEST issue least thats what i was told.. they could be something else
