Mp3 add on to stock stereo

Hi all,
I went to the dealers today to pick up my plates. I asked the service guy if you could have a stereo jack add on for the stock radio. He said yes. Chevy can put it in for 150 bucks. He told me they would add the jack to the stock stereo and have the cable run into the glove compartment. He said Car radio shops can add it on cheaper then Chevy could.

So I am thinking... if you might be able to open the stock radio and find the jacks or find away to hook it up yourself. I don't want to pay 150 bones just for a piece of wire for a Mp3 player. That's crazy!

It's not that simple. It is actually a receiver unit that plugs into the back of the stock HU that receives the ipod signal then converts the signal using the GM-LAN to the radio.

But, again, unless you have the correct radio it will not work, dealers don't know everything

I asked the guy that I don't want the FM signal converter. I wanted a Jack cause I don't have a IPod. I have a ZEN-M player. He said for 150 bucks he can add that to the stock stereo.

There's got to be a way to do it without paying the 150 bucks. I'll try a Stereo shop and see what they charge.

If you want a line-in (that plugs into the headphone jack) then GM does not offer any accessories for that, it does come standard in the BlackTie radio. But if you want an Ipod controller, GM does offer one, but it only works with the BlackTie radio

hmmmm...I thought the GM was ipod only. i did not know you could use other players with it. you may have to go after market on this one. Rien is also right. Do your research cause the dealers sometimes really don't know what there talking about.

if your radio looks like this:

Then yes, you can have an Audio Input jack, which is standard on those radios. There is also an option of an Ipod interface for those radios that allows you to control it with the deck

If that is not what your radio looks like, there is not a GM accessory that will add an Aux jack to the radio.

Does anyone have the ability to post more information about the GM iPod module. Like part number, costs, pics, installation notes. I don't mind my aux in, but i'd love to install an ipod interface to control the ipod from the radio in my 07. Thanks.
