so there's no way i can use this wire from the kit to mute the radio? maybe i can use a relay some how? anyone know how i can set this up. when one wire gets power it will shut off the other one. i figure i can hook up the mute wire to a relay so that when it sends a signal through it will shut off power.

you could hook up an external switch to mute in a second, but to ur stock button i think ur SOL. i had to use a special adapter just to get my wheel controls to work with my aftermarket HU. wht bluetooth system are u using?

Motorola HF650. Here's the thing. I usually listen to my music pretty loud and the bass can overtake all other sounds lol. I'm connecting the speaker output of the bluetooth unit to the left side audio in my car. When my phone rings, most likely i will not hear it with the music on. So, the bluetooth system comes with a mute audio wire that I'm hoping I can hook up to a relay somehow to cut power to the radio. Since I will be connecting the speaker wire to the left side audio, it will still work with the bluetooth and the radio will be off.

So, for the electrical guys etc. Is there a relay that will turn off a source when a signal is added? That's what will work for me. I figure, when I get a call, the unit will send a signal through the mute link to the relay..shutting off the radio power allowing the phone call to go through the left side speakers.

nvm thanks guys i found the answer. i just have to configure the relay to normally closed. so when power is sent to it from the mute switch it will turn off power to the radio allowing me to hear the call through the side speakers.

Either that, or you can put a N/C relay on each (+) or (-) speaker wire and have it open when you receive a call. That way the headunit can stay on.

that wouldn't help me at all. im using the factory speakers on the left side for the sound for bluetooth. normally you use this gay little speaker. so im connecting it after the radio. when i recieve a call the radio needs to turn off otherwise i probably wont here it. when it turns off the music will stop yet i will still here the phone via the left side of the stereo. get me?
