Exclamation Need Antenna Help Please

So I am going to have to replace my antenna base and mounting bracket. Is it true that you need to cut the antenna cable from the base? If not is there another way to remove it? If it needs to be cut, how in the world do you install it into the new base. Any help will be muuuuuch appreciated.

Yeah. When you pop it out, you should still have the connector in the end. What antenna mast are you using? Did you buy a new base from gm? The reason I ask is, there were two different antenna bases. 05-06 and 07-10. The two bases use different size mast posts. I had to replace mine a few months ago because my antenna snapped off. Gm discontinued the mount for the 05-06. I had to replace my mast too so, I just bought the appropriate one for the new base. One is a 6mm and the other is 7mm. I can't remember which one is which though.

I bought a new base from GM. My Cobalt is 2006 so it looks like the thread will be different than what I had since it was discontinued. Sounds like from what you said there are no fitment issues or anything like that. Thanks for the great input.

I dont use FM (XM or iPod mostly these days)much anymore but I still like the option. I bought a 13" black billet stubbie antenna. I noticed a little signal loss but I'm still able to tune to most of the same stations. I live out in BFE. When I'm in the city, I notice no loss at all. Curious to know how the MPX antenna performs. keep us posted?

What's funny is I am running only an antenna mast right now and still get some radio stations. A little fuzzy but not bad haha.

Just to let you know... even if you order the one for the 05-06, you will still receive the one with the 7mm antenna base because the 6mm is discontinued. Therefore, anything you order will have to be for an 07+ cobalt, antenna wise. Just like everything else for us... there are very little options.

Thanks man I appreciate it. Never thought there would be so many details involved with this, silly me.
