Need help with an '07 HU install

I have an '07 LS and I just bought a single din lilliput lcd. I went to a local shop to get it installed and they fed me the bull ish about the $150 adapter how all the new chevys need and blah blah. From what I've read on this forum, the '07s are different than the previous years, but how different? What are my options? I'd like to avoid paying more for the install than I paid for the unit itself. Thank you in advance for replies

UNLESS you have onstar, you DO NOT need that adapter. buy the cheep one on ebay and bring it with you.

I bought my HU from crutchfield and got the adapter for half off. Still was $65 though.

great, thanks guys. appreciate it.

Does anyone off the top of their head know the socket size for the bolts that hold the stock stereo unit in place? I tried a 1/4" and 7/32", one too big and one too small. I'm guessing this is metric?? (which is ridiculous on an american car)

hahaha, yeah the rest of the world likes to engineer in metric. They should be 10mm bolts.

Don't you need the adapter for the chimes and turn signal with the 07?

I think I can sacrifice door chimes in order to save $150. The guy told me on the phone the harness would only be like $35. And then when I got there he was like "just kidding, its actually 150" As far as the turn signals, I would only lose the click correct?

This is all you need.

Edit:
And yes, you lose all car sounds. Chimes, signal click, hazzard click, warning noises, all of it. The question is do you care? Worst comes to worse, just put the old radio back in and return everything or sell it here for money and profit.
