Negative Resistance?

I believe that is the proper term, correct me if wrong though!
I was curious about the 12v Adapters in the Cobalt and what you can or cannot leave in them, and if they provide some sort of "Negative Resistance" when the device is not demanding power (So the battery does not drain)

Thoughts, Questions, Ideas?

If there is not a complete circuit, current will not flow.

V is volt. 12v is a basic term for car electrical. example pioneer car audio is a 12v company

im pretty sure the cig lighter is constant power so as long as the unit is plugged in its on

I guess what Im getting at.
Is it bad to have **** plugged in?

I have my GPS plugged in even with my car off, but that is just the charger.
I take the unit itself off.

Another example would be an iPod charger.

as long as it is not charging the pice it will not take enough of the voltage to not let the car start unless it is like 2 weeks of pure sitting...( i leave mine in all the time... its like ur radio( it kinda stays on it has to to keep the time on the clock or elce when u shut ur car off if its 2 it will stay 2 untill u turn it back on) u should be just fine.

BTW: its called parasitic load( drain on a sorce most of the time referd to on a 12V sorce)

Does the cigarette lighter not turn off after 20mins of the ignition being off? I've never tested it, lol or put any thought into it, but I thought that was how it worked. Like part of the battery run-down protection, where your lights turn off after 20mins or so.
