i was looking foward to getting a new head unit on my car, because in my last truck i could use an aux. cable for my ipod. but while at the shop the guy asked if i had the premium sound system. i said yes, and he stated that an aftermarket HU wouldn't work with the speakers or the amp. and he then told me it would be a good $1,000 to replace the amp and the speakers. i just want to know has anyone with the pioneer sound system put in an aftermarket HU, and if so, any problems? many thanks!!

 

that guy just shot you a load of bs man. Their is a harness for installing the aftermarket head unit in our cars. I cant think of the exact part number but look on crutchfield.

 

what year is your car? 07s and up need a $100 harness, which is expensive, but not as much as hes telling you.

 

i have a 2006. i immediatley left cause i can do so much to my car for 1 grand instead of listening to my ipod. but i will definatley look into it.

 

i have an 06 and i found a harness on ebay for 12 bucks, and it included the dash kit
