New Head Unit - Help!!

I have an 07' cobalt ss/sc with a single disc MP3 XM AUX Input Pioneer Stereo.
Pretty well standard.

I put two 1800 watt RMS MTX audio 12' subs in it, just through a high level converter off the rear speakers.
Mtx... i know. I wasn't looking for anything fancy just wanted SOMETHING more.

Well now i want to put an in dash Pioneer Multimedia Player (AVH-P4000DVD) in it. I read a couple other threads on wiring and adapters..

I read that i DON'T Need to keep the factory HU in the trunk. Is this right? The ECU memory is in the DASH and not the stereo?

I just wanna put this damn thing in without the hassle and headache

Help!!??????

You read correctly. You don't need to keep the factory HU in the trunk.

You'll probably have to remove the plastic and metal in the back of the enclosure to get the deck in.. I had too
