new HU to be installed ipod issue?

hey i got a good deal from a friend got his pioneer avic u310bt out of his sti for 100 bucks after we swapped his new one in

i bought the harness and gps antenna for it it has the usb slot in the back and pioneers website says it uses CD-IU50 for ipod/iphone i googled it and it looks pretty much the same as the everyday chargers im wondering if i can just plug in a normal iphone/ipod charger in the back of it?

if anyone has any useful info about this is would help me greatly so i can order that other cord and have it all go in at once if i cant use a normal iphone cord

a regular cord should work in most cases

From what I've gathered it depends on the Pioneer unit itself. If that USB only reads a FAT 32 file system by itself you'll need their cable to properly interface with your ipod and access your tunes. Try your cable and if it displays something like "USB N/A" then you'll know for sure you need the Pioneer one. It may specify this in the user manual also. Should be a pdf on Pioneer's website.

I use a regular ipod cord on my Avic z120. Everything works as it should, like album art, just no video. But I don't have videos on my ipod anyways.

so the ipod cord worked ive got a couple questions i hope someone can answer for me

im looking to get the adapter piece for the radio antenna it doesnt fit in the aftermarket deck is there an adapter or does the plastic piece come off the antenna and then it will fit in the deck?

also i got the cheaper harness ill get the exact number if needed im just wondering if theres a way i can spice from my factory harness to get the doorchimes/blinker chimes to work doors not a big deal but not hearing the blinker blink is annoying sometime

for the antenna you need to get the crysler antenna adapter.

no... the chimes in 07+ cobalts come from the radio. since the radio is removed there is nothing to make the chimes. The expensive harnesses have a computer to decode the data from GM LAN and recreate a shitty rendition of the stock chimes. There is no way to have chimes other than buying one of the module harnesses
