so i know the subs in the cobalts are 9's but a guy from my work is gonna sell me a 12 in sony xplod for 15 bucks u think i would be able to put it in the stock box or should i build one and get a better amp?

 

12" sub will not fit in 10" hole......break out the box building tools

yea i kno a 12 wont fit in a 10 hole but i was thinking maybe a lil fabrication or jus build a new one bc the guy who is selling it to me has a program that tells u dimensions to get the best sound out of it

 

Would not have anything left of the stock enclosure by the time you got a 12" in it, and the volume of the enclosure would likely be waaay too small.

You would be much better off building an enclosure to suit the sub you want to run. Might even get a few $$$ for the factory unit

 

yeah a 12 will not fit! i got a 1000 watt pioneer 10" sub and i had to bore out the hole a lil bit to make it fit.
