Not futsing around this winter...

I'm gonna need a remote start. Of course, if i had an 07 i could get a rmeote from gm that lets it remote start, but noooOOOOooo i have an 06!

But anywho, wondering what a good kit/system to go with would be for an 06 stickshift. its the manual thing that makes me wonder if a remote start would work, like if i gotta park on a hill it probly wouldn't (which is fine)

but yea anyone whos done this just tell me what u got, if the install was easy, roughly how much it cost u, thanks.

gonna follow the 'heated seats' how to here soon lol, i just got a bad feeling about this winter

thanks!

for a manual you'd have to use the ebrake to make the auto start work and applying your ebrake in the winter will cause your breaks to stick. At least up in alaska it does.

There are a lot of installers that refuse to install remote starts on a manual due to the oh so many risks associated with it- my shop being one of them. Were you looking for it to be DIY or having someone do it for you??

I never had my brakes stick on me in Iowa winters. I used the ebrake every time I parked.

This.

I did two Iowa winters in college, and have done two Chicago winters here. No problems with the ebrake.

Now when an ice storm hits so bad it literally ices your wheels to the ground, that is another issue... Stupid Iowa.

Hum... I don't know about Alaska, but here in Canada, everybody puts ebrake on and I've never heard about sticked brakes... And, theres is no danger putting a remote start on a manual car if you put in into neutral before leaving it! Not more dangerous than an auto

great contribution to the thread douche....

anyways, yes it will work on a manual...there's a process known as reservation mode (the steps vary from manufacturer to manufacturer) in which the remote start triggers a sequence once it sees you take your foot off the foot brake, and engage the ebrake (or press a button on the remote)...once the remote start brain sees this, it knows reservation mode has begun and will keep the car running after you take out the key...this way, you'll leave it in neutral of course so your car won't stall out, and when you close the door, the car will lock and arm itself and shut off so that next time you start the car, it's guaranteed to be in manual...If the door triggers are triggered before the next remote start, the reservation mode will cancel because it will assume that the shifter has been moved. If you have any other questions let me know.

If you get a remote start remember not to leave the car in gear.

as stated in my previous post, you no longer need to worry about this because almost every remote start manufacturer provides protection vs. this via programming....

such an incredibly easy install....look at what the blade-al or the al-ca gives you (http://www.idatalink.com/search/index/model/5759) ......EVERYTHING...even fuel level info, engine temp info, and puddle light control....even Retained accessory power shutdown...

this install should be like....8 wires and its a wrap.
