oem head unit
can you swap a base head unit on a 06 base model balt for one out of another model year and an aux input? i want to play my zune through my stereo for the time being till its not so cold out to install of of my new stuff.

It's been done, but never with factory like results, some of the options on the head unit get messed up. But there is a thread on it somewhere if you care to dig.
If you have XM radio, you can always wire up a headphone jack up to the wires going into the head unit from the XM receiver. There's a thread on that too. Not sure if it was ever noted in the thread, but you could have a dealership turn on the XM feature on your radio if you don't have it and then do this, the wires are there.
If none of those sounds good to you, then the short answer is no.

Whats funny about unlocking the oem radios from swaping them out is, a while back I had a 2004 silverado and I did a oem radio swap and it was locked. So I road with it locked for about a month. Then I totaled it, after the wreck I went to see if the truck would crank and the radio started playing. It cleared the code somehow. Imagine that.

I believe it is called reverse OEM radio harness. They sell them for 27 bucks on ebay. I bought one the other day, haven't completely finished hooking it up yet as you can see in the picture.
