PAC SWI-Jack Question
PAC SWI-Jack Question
Hi everyone, first time poster... Anyhow, I have searched and read the older threads regarding the install of the PAC SWI controllers and I am having a slight issue. I originally didn't have the white/blk tapped to ignition on the car's harness and wasn't able to program the unit. I then tapped the white/blk to the ignition wire on the radio harness and while I was somewhat successful in the program (volume up and mute worked) the radio no longer turned off when I would turn the key off and open the door. I removed the tap and left the wire taped off for now. The mute and volume up buttons still work, so I'm a little bit confused as to what is actually needed. Does the white/blk wire on the car harness only need to be powered for programming and that's it? Any thoughts why tapping the white/blk to the red wire on the radio harness caused the radio to be powered all the time? Once that tap was removed all is well but of course only 2 of my steering wheel controls work. This is on a 2009 with a kenwood 9960 HU. Thanks in advanced for any discussion this brings.
The red acc wire is tapped into the red acc wire on the radio harness which is getting the switched 12v from the GMOS Lan. Does the PAC need to be wired independently of the radio harness to get power/ground? I was assuming I could run the acc and ground to the same acc and ground used in the radio harness, then I ran the blue/yellow to the blue yellow on the kenwood and the green to the car harness dark blue wire. I had missed the white/blk car harness wire in the instructions the first time so once I saw that I tapped that wire to the same red acc wires that the radio and PAC are using.
