Pioneer XM tuner install

I installed my xm tuner a while back, but never got around to putting these pics up. I hope this is helpful for you guys, just to show you can retain the factory mount and antenna from your stock xm tuner setup.

heres the two units (stock xm tuner and pioneer xm tuner)

Heres where i dremaled the antenna plug so the stock antenna would plug right into the pioneer unit

heres a quick picture of what i did to make the stock antenna plug work

The completed pioneer tuner mounted to the factory tuner bracket

After i installed the unit (sorry crappy cell phone pic)

enjoy!

Very nice. Ill be using the knowledge you just gave me when I upgrade down the road. I mostly listen to XM so its good to know I can use the factory antenna with the A/M HU.

nm, ebay does have a 15 foot cable if the one that comes with the tuner is not 15 foot to go from the back to the deck

to utilize the stock antenna vs running a second one and leaving the stock on there useless

is there a benefit from using a pioneer xm rather than just renuing ur stock one? or is the pioneer one for aftermarket headunits?

correct you can only use the stock tuner with the stock radio. and only use the pioneer one with an after market pioneer radio.

This actually helped my out! Thanks OP!! I never would have thought to dremel the original XM connector, got everything hooked up and it works as if it was stock. Only problem now is that i gotta figure out why the sound on my XM is quieter then the other sources i have... dont think thats an xm thing though, im guessing its more to do with the deck.
