Most mp3 files work running from my USB stick, but some give an error, about IDTAG3 and it tells me check file and skips over it. How do I fix the actual file?

Remove the id3 tag from the file and make a new one, that usually fixes tag problems.

 

I'd try the above suggestion first and then copy the song back over to your USB stick again, it could be corrupted.

But I'm thinking the above suggestion will fix it, a corrupted ID3 tag and the whole song won't play would be a hillarious ****-up on GM's part.

MP3tag + WMP is a godly combo. Use mp3tag to remove the tags and add the artist /album info. Then use WMP to lookup the album and set all the song tags. I ussually have mp3tag rename the files so its just track-song title. btw check these out for usb keys they blend in with my black radio lol
