Problems with new system install
I hooked up a system to my car this weekend and everything was working fine. I used the windshield wiper fuse as a remote. I ran the car fine yesterday and part of today until I just went to get into and the amp did not turn on . My first instinct was that the fuse blew but it was fine. I thought that the remote wire maybe was messing with it so i took it out and put the fuse back in and still nothing. Im not getting any power to the wiper fuse. I check all the other fuses in the car and under the hood and found that one labeled IP IGN under the hood was blown so i replaced it and still nothing. I then decide to just deal with it later and try to leave no sooner than i start to back up out of my driveway when i notice that i have no power steering and i get a message on my driver information center that says service air bag. I turn off the car and hook up an OBDII scan tool to it and it pulls a code that says Error P0650: Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) Control Circuit. I checked a little online and all i can find is that there is an open circuit somewhere but have no idea where. I checked all the fuses again and they were all fine. Anyone have any idea what that circuit is and how to go about fixing it? If not I may end up just taking it to the dealership
What, that sucks! I have no idea, I've never heard of that before. Did you check all the fuses under the hood and in the passenger compartment?
Dont use the wiper fuse for the turn on, use the sunroof fuse

Like stated in my first post i checked all of the fuses and the only one that was blown as IP IGN under the hood. Everything else is fine. I checked and rechecked all the fuses
How are you checking the fuses? Are you just visually inspecting them or using a multimeter? Best way to check is to use a multimeter in continuity mode (so it beeps when there is continuity) and go through each fuse in the block touching the metal ends at the top of each fuse. I know you said you've checked and rechecked the fuses, but it really does sound like a blown fuse. On the other hand, I wonder if our cars have a fusible link somewhere that could have burned out?
here is what member coblasts had to say. Option 3 sounds like the problem:
Okay : the I/P ign is 20 amps it feeds power to the bcm ,your run crank relay feeds the power to the i/p ign circut (That way all you accessories go of when starting the car.
That circut feeds the wiper circut 10 amp fuse(15) the air bag circut 10 amp fuse(13) power sterring circut 2 amp fuse(19) and your hvac/i/p ign circut 10 amp fuse(16)
You have a serious wiring problem if the 20amp i/p ign fuse isnt blown and all that stuff doesnt work.
1- check 20 amp i/p ign fuse
2-check for power at wiper fuse(15) if power to the wipers and not the power steering I would say you smoked a trace in the BCM
3-if no power on any(wipers ,power steering ,air bag etc) and the 20amp I/P ign under the hood is good you have to ring out the wire between the fuse box and the bcm
Fuse box Connector C5 (pin A2) to bcm connector C3 (pin D6)
Are you sure that remote power on wire for the amp you hooked to the wiper circut is not shorted to ground ? Better check but for now unhook it.
