But again this would only be IF I dump thousands into having a top show car, this mod would put you over another car in a contest no questions.
no not really.
its merely a way to bypass the current key system without having to impliment an entirely new ignition system.

think of it like this, your leaving your key plugged in and on permanantly, but you have cut the power wire, so technically the car is in the off position.
when your proximity key moves into range, that power wire is now reconnected, and the car merely thinks you just turned the key on.

I think youd be quite surprised how simple/cheap it really is.

you guys are so narrow minded, why would you go buy an expensive premade system?

think outside the box.
tell me, have you ever heard of an invisible dog fence?

ohhhhhh i bet that turned a lightbulb on in the attic didnt it?

*rollseyes* i have no interest in this mod, im just trying to help those who do.
dont completely discount the idea just because you cant think of clever alternate ways to do it without dropping huge $$.

There are several ways it could be done, and all of them end up with a completey usless mod, that no one but the owner is going to care about, or take notice of. I think money and time could be spent on better mods, that makes sense. Also, if your cars under warranty and you start adding things to the passlock system, I am sure you can kiss the electrical system warranty goodbye. You want to mess with the passlock system, put a remote start on the car, see how its all tied into the BCM and have fun with it.......

I have messed around with the electrical system on a countless number of cars, ignition switches, alarms, remote start, stereo's. After looking at the wiring diagram to add an aftermarket remote start and alarm, I decided the effort on these particular cars, just isnt worth it.. Maybe I am lazy though...

Back in Highschool There was this kid who just got his remote start in his Acura, he parked behind my friends truck and the kid trying to show off started it up while in gear and sent it right into the trailer ball.... just be careful lol

useless to you maybe.....but the world doesnt mod their cars based on what YOU like....

I also think money and time could be better spent on other mods, but thats the beauty of car modding, its a personal experience,
and neither you, or I, has the right to tell someone their car or its mods, are "useless"
because it would only be useless to YOU.
I think you need to change your attitude towards other peoples choices a bit, or your going to find arguments at every turn.

would need atleast one switch besides the crank button for an ignition/acc/"kill" switch. Maybe a second if you want to split out acc1 and acc2 to use your radio/windows without the fuel pump and lights being on.

and if the vett keysense thing doesn't work out... you would want it, or a sepperate switch, "hidden" to keep ppl from figuring it out and stealing your car easily.

big mistake posting this up here lol.. ur getting the three "groups" of posters like everyone gets when wanting to do something they themselves will enjoy.

people who agree it would be a unique and cool idea

people who's opinion the OP really doesn't give a **** about ( oh it's useless, waste of money, why would you do this...blah blah blah)

people who actually give helpful advice on how to do it right etc.

guys....he actually wants to do this...so for the people who say it's stupid this and that...just Shut the **** Up!!! plain and simple. this is an internet forum with free speech but seriously. no one cares if you think it's stupid etc. go make a useless thread you can write in to feel special.

possible but not cheap. if you are doing it make sure to have it installed professionally (i wouldnt trust myself to do it) and when i mean that scope out the shop before handing them a wad of cash. Ask questions and see how they react ect

Enjoy its going to be a fun ride if you decide to do it

I know this is old, but here's a couple solutions I found that I couldnt find in the forums:
http://www.digitalguarddawg.com/
http://www.auto-hub.com/stardrive_pu...ignition.html#
Both are around $400 but you only need to have the proximity rf transmitter on you to start the car, pretty cool.

if we had return style setups it would be cool to have a separate fuel pump rocker switch. you know, roll cage, gutted interior no radio, and some badass switches. so you hear the fuel pump go before you start it. badass.

Mike, just turn the key to run, and let it sit there for a few seconds, listen to that fuel pump to your heart's content.

been a while...

Old,But not dead... First post in years too.

I wired a push button up today. I used a relay to trigger the CRNK relay under the hood. The coil is only triggered by the ignition on circuit when the key is in, so the button won't work when it's not turned on. Also disabled the key start option.

Everything works. Now starting the car doesn't kill power to accessories.

Pretty straightforward, probably easier if you can find someone to do the install. But if you can read wire diagrams, it should not be too much of an issue. I did blow a fuse being dumb lol, thanks for the help again EmpJ.
