Question About 7 Speaker system.

Okay I am getting ready to add a New double din head unit to my 2007 Cobalt SS SC,

Here is a Link to my nice Chinese Head Unit I got from Ebay
LINK

Now here are my questions,

1: My new head unit only has 4 speaker wires coming out of it, Is that all I need to get sound to all 7 speakers?
I don't know how our Factory amp works, and I wanted to know if the amp seperates the 4 channels into the 7 or if the the wires are separated at the head unit.

2: I will need to run the remote wire to the fuse box and tap into a fuse like the windshield wiper fuse?

3: My head unit has a Amplifier remote turn on wire would that work to use for the remote on the Amplifier in my car, and if so Which wire is the Remote for the amp?

I will post a nice little how to of how I did all my installation after I get it all done, I am also adding a Slim PS2 to my glove box and will include that in my how to.

Thanks,
Robert

1: Yeah. The factory amplifier seperates the channels for the tweeters and the sub.
Just buy the correct Metra wiring harness and you should be good to go. ( big ups
to EmporerJJ1! )

2: Yeah, the wire for the switched 12v power that turns on with the ignition switch. The factory wiring harness for the stereo doesn't include this wire.

3: The Metra kit has a wire to connect this lead to.

4: I like the slim PS2 idea, that should be tight. Take a look at the FAQ at the top of this forum, It includes the Correct harness info for you car, and also has alot of good info in it.

Good Luck.

Thanks man, I already purchased the $15.00 Wiring Harness "door dings annoy me", The double din adapter and my antenna adapter. So Will that harness have the appropriate Amplifier turn on wire?

So the Red Power Wire will need to be run the the Sunroof Fuse, not the Blue remote wire?

blue in the cobalt harness is the remote for the amplifier. this should be hooked up to the remote wire coming off the HU harness. The red in the HU harness is accessory and needs to be hooked up to the sunroof fuse. The red in the cobalt harness should be disregarded and capped off

Now I will still need to run the Remote from the H/u and Harness to a power source though correct?

Okay on my Harness for the H/u, the Red wire in the 12v Power, the Yellow is the accessory, and black is ground of course. Should I just connect the red and Yellow together, In the user manual it says the yellow cord is the cord that keeps your settings.

oh **** i forgot the cheaper hus the wire colors are sometimes diffrent. A1 is ur constant, A3 is ur accessory and #2 auto antenna is the "remote"

you shouldn't connect them together because if you do either your radio will not automatically turn off or you will loose the settings every time u turn it on and off.

Sorry, don't mean to thread jack- hoping you can clarify this for me. Is it a full fledged crossover for the front or does the front woofer get the full signal and the tweeter just have a high pass?
