Question about placement

I recently purchased a Harman Kardon Drive + Play kit for my cobalt and iPod. It has a few options for getting the audio to your head unit, and the easiest (and obviously not the best) option is to use the built in FM Transmitter. If this doesn't work, i'll move on to the next option which is a hard wired FM Modulator. In the mean time, does anyone know where the "best" place would be for a FM transmitter to sit in the car? Would it be closer to the antenna or near the head unit?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Does the FM Modulator require power to be ran to it, or is it powered through the "brain" of the unit?

there is no power to be run, plugs into a headfone style jack on the brain

for the extra 5 minutes its a world of difference
