Question wiring

Right now i have my radar detecter cord tucked into the trim of an 06 grand prix running to a control panel i rigged, but when i get my 2010 cobalt i was thinking of wiring it through the onstar (since i'm not going to use it anyway). That way it should turn on with the car. Has anybody tried this?

you dont need to wire it to onstar... Just get a fuse tap or wire to an power that is turned on when the car is on...acc or something its called.
