Relocating the 12v outlet?

Hey guys just have a quick question about relocating the 12v outlet in our cars, my reason for this is I have an iPhone aux kit and I want to relocate the 12v outlet to be hidden down beside the shifter with the aux kit plunged in, I was going to just attach it to the side with some electrical tape, should this be okay or will I run into problems of this being a dangerous hazard

just buy an aftermarket 12 volt outlet for four dollars at your favorite auto parts store, pull the plastic of the console and look for an area that has enough space behind it, drill the hole and mount it there. Tie the wires into the factory 12 volt outlet and you're done. A new 12 volt outlet in the place you want it that looks factory and doesnt leave you with a hole where the original was.

Why tape the original to the side and look like crap when for ten minutes work you can make it perfect

If you want the ipod's power hidden, you might as well cut the power plug off of it, attach an in line fuse, and use a fuse tap to provide power from the fuse box. It'll be a much cleaner install than adding another 12v plug.

I did this for my sat. radio. But i covered up the hole with my bass boost knob. And it is safe, i would just recomend that you tape it all off so it doesnt ground out and pop a fuse or something.
