Remote Start
Remote Start
OK I have a few questions about doing a remote start. First off If anybody has the wiring diagram for a 2007 Cobalt LS Couple that would be awsome. Second Im wondering if I need a Immobilizer Bypass? To clearify I have a 2007 Cobalt LS with 0 options, so I have the 4 speaker non poineer non on star stereo, that has been replaced using a GMOS-LAN-03 harness. Im trying to install a Hornet 569T remote start, Ive heard I need a DEI-555LW GM remote start interface mod passlock 1 & 2. Thanks for any and all help.

NOTES
NOTE *1 the BCM is part of the FUSE/RELAY BOX on the front PASSENGER SIDE of the CENTER CONSOLE. The BCM has the following connectors: C1-72 Pin GRAY Plug, C2-72 Pin GRAY Plug, C3-41 Pin RED Plug, and C4-68 Pin LIGHT GRAY Plug, the C4 Plug, is located on the BACK of the BCM.
NOTE *2 the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is located on the DRIVERS SIDE FENDER, in FRONT of the UNDER HOOD FUSE BOX. The YELLOW STARTER wire is NOT required for REMOTE STARTING. THIS VEHICLE REQUIRES A PKUGM2X OR XKO6 WITH PKG7 2.0 FIRMWARE BYPASS FOR REMOTE STARTING.
NOTE *3 This vehicle uses a 1-Wire Door Locking System that will require extra parts. The LOCK requires a Straight (-) Negative and the UNLOCK requires a (-) Negative thru a 1500 Ohm Resistor. Some units will also require (2) extra Relays Part #775 for this function, to connect See DIAGRAMS.
NOTE *4 The DRIVERS DOOR is a GRAY/BLACK (-) Pin 22, The PASSENGERS DOOR is a TAN/WHITE (-) Pin 19, The DRIVERS REAR DOOR is a LIGHT BLUE/BLACK (-) Pin 1 and The PASSENGER REAR DOOR is a LIGHT GREEN/BLACK (-) Pin 20, when connecting to an ALARM SYSTEM use all 4 wires and DIODE ISOLATE, to connect See DIAGRAM

That wiring should help alot, its the first one Ive seen for 07. It also calls out the immobilizer bypass that I enede up buying, so at least thats one more confimation for needing that.
Thanks,
Sean
Thanks,
Sean
yes u will need either the passlock bypass unit or the key in box unit
Ok I just got this response from another forum
Anybody have any insight into this? For the record I already have a Hornet 569T remote start and a PKUGM2X bypass unit. Any help/info on this is GREATLY apreciated.
Thank you,
Sean
Below is about an 08 cobalt. I have no idea if it is the same as the 07. If it is the same, please read below.
Yes it is on, I didn't want to be the one to burst your bubble. But since nobody else wants to burst it for you here we go. The vehicle you purchased is a computer controlled car, known as a DataBus system. Years from now I think it may be a great idea. Today, it's only purpose is to make installers pull their hair out. I would reccomend using an Audiovox Prestige alarm system and one of their Flash Logic pieces. Even using the correct module there will still be issues. We worked on a car for 2 days. When you put the car in reverse, you had a 50 50 shot at having power steering. There were many more issues but that is the one they had the most trouble with. Turns out there are a ton of updates that the dealership needed to do to the car's computer. They were not real willing to help. It was a dealership job. The salesman misrepresented the car and told the customer it had remote start. After the 2 days of work, we then found out that for the dealership to install the factory remote start, the cost for them would have been minimal. 1 new computer module and 2 remotes. You may want to look into that option. I really suggest you shop around and find a shop that has installed an alarm in one of these vehicles before. With the flash logic piece and the alarms that they were designed to mate with, there are a lot fewer wire connections to be made, but there are the programming issues. Good luck in whatever you do, and remember to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery before doing any work on the vehicle.

I have one in stalled in mine, its not impossible.
Its hard and he's right the installers call my car "The Bitch"
Listen, I don't know too much about alarms but I tell you whatt i do know
1 getting your remote start to learn the tach is going to be hard, your going to have to force it.
2 bypass all the crap with the ignition and the tach go strait to the source
3 the RAP feature causes problems with reservation mode,
4 the BCM tends to go into sleep mode every once and a while, we can't seem to find a pattern, but it will cause the doors not to unlock or alarm to stay armed (the bcm needs to send out 3 pulses one for the alarm and one for each door, when in sleep mode the first pulse goes to waking up the system)
5) Get a COMPUSTAR, you have a high tech car so get a high tech alarm that can interact with it. You would try and hook a DVD player up to a 1970's TV without some kind of adapter in there, compustar has the adapters or Modules and better yet there real easy to program,
I have the Compustar P2W900FMR, it will cost ya, but its worth it

1. The car not learning tach is absolutely incorrect. I ran mine on voltage first but it started up like crap from time to time so I made the switch to tach, no problems at all.
2. RAP has not caused any issue in my car and I'm not sure what that would have to do with your system.
3. The BCM going to sleep? Really? Are the installers telling you that because if they are they need to study up. That sounds like the GEM module used in Ford's and I highly doubt they are in our cars. I have had no problems with my doors unlocking or locking or the alarm not staying armed.
4. Any system will work in any car, I have a Viper on my car with an XK06 bypass module and the install was cake. I have also done several Vipers on other Cobalts with no problems.
I'm not trying to bust your *****, just trying to clear up some things, especially if it is other installers telling you this. I do this for a living so I try to stay on top of my game and follow up on things. Sorry if it seems like I'm trying to be a dick. As far as doing alarms/remote starts on your own, I highly advise against it. Way too many electronics that have the potential to be damaged if you aren't sure what you are doing, I have seen it time and time again. Doing a radio is a lot different and a lot easier. I give anyone who tries it on their own a lot of credit for trying, but be careful because if you cross just one wire you could be in big big trouble. If anyone has questions feel free to pm me.
Ok so I got it in, and working with only a couple small issues. First off when I turn off the car with the key OR with the remote start the starter tries to restart, Its not a full on crank, more like not enough power half assed attempet. Next is its flashing the headlights and not the parking lights. According to two different wiring diagrams I have the right wire for it, just isnt right. Im mostly concerned with the starter thing though. FYI it is a manual and for testing the clutch switch is tapped down to trick it (this is only to see if it would start, and isnt going to stay like that) also the brake "kill" wire isnt hooked up. ANY information is GREATLY apprciated.
Thanks

Need help...anyone know where I can find the 12 volt brake switch connector wire on a 2009 Cobalt? The wiring info I have suggest that it would be just above the brake pedal which is where it was on my old 2005 Cavalier. On the Cobalt there are 3 wires...yellow, brown, white.....should be Lt. Blue.
Autopage RS-660 with CAN SL-2 databus bypass tested and working fine.

you guys with the manuals, you're trusting just your weak ass ebrak to hold the car from rolling? pretty ballsy
i'll take a look in my book and see if it has wiring diagrams. pretty sure it does.
