yup...lots of money...i got a compustar system...guy quoted me $580 for product and install...i played stupid and agreed...he came back to me after the install and said that there was more than one bypas needed (costing $100 each) ....but he was still going to honour our initial price agreement... it would have costed me $800 lol .....

at bestbuy, even the cheapest POS starter is about $800 after install.... stupid ****

is there a system available that doesn't bypass the manual so it won't start while still in gear? i want a remote start system but i'm not willing to chance leaving it in gear by accident.

my compustar does that...all the features listed above (locks, trunk, alarm, shock sensor), and also has (apparently- never tested it) 3000 ft range....

i can be on campus in class and remote start my beast from in a building thats a 5-10 minute walk away from the parking lot :P

i am also curious as to how they would work with a manual being the clutch would need to be pushed down to start and also if you park it in gear like your supposed to how does it stay running without stalling

there is some kind of bypass that is installed with the autostart fooling the car that the clutch is in and your suppose to leave your car in neutral or something

Actually Compustar sells a model that is specifically designed for manual cars. You need to do a few steps in a sequence that will tell the computer to start the car when you push the button on the remote. Without following the steps, the computer won't attempt to turn the car on.

I have the Viper 791XV installed in my car and it works beautifully. Had it installed at Best Buy. Now I know Best Buy won't normally install a remote start in a car with a manual transmission due to liability reasons but I used to work there and knew the install techs.

all compustars are capable for manuals.... and that is the only brand i would trust interms of a remote start for manuals. You can use any remote start for a manual but the only safe one i would recommend or use myself would be a compustar
