Safe Voltage Levels

So my headunit and and AMP are reporting a 15v voltage when my car is on, is this safe??? Im assuming my alternator is having no problem keeping up with my system I suppose

That's strange. What does it drop to when it's playing? I wouldn't expect to see anything more than 14.4 or 14.5V or so. Factory alternator?

Nope hardly drops at all only time i cant even get the voltage to drop is if i use the windows (those motors take alot of power) and even then it hovers above 13-14...and yes factory alternator

hmm throw a volt meter on your alt itself... that shouldnt be that high but i wouldnt worry to bad (you will probably need a new alt sometime and hopefully by then some aftermarket place will make them)

Most after market electronics can handle up to 16V. The more voltage your system gets, the higher your output will be (more watts). That's a good thing!

extra voltage is good for the audio stuff but bad for your car... bump your voltage up higher and see the computer fry ect ect
