From what I know, people say that SIGNAL TO NOISE RATIO is very important when it comes to sound quality for your audio deck.

Does this mean that at a higher ratio, you have better sound quality? For example, 105dB is better than a 65dB SIGNAL TO NOISE RATIO.
Is there anything else I should look for in an audio deck specifically? What do you usually look for?

I appreciate any info you guys could dish out.

 

higher voltage preouts and atleast 3preouts... multiband equalizers... crossovers built in

 

THD, or Total Harmonic Distortion is what you should be looking at. Something in the neighborhood of .00X. All the bells and whistles aside, if your THD is high, your system is going to sound like crap.

 

Do you have to figure this out? Is there a simple way of calculating this if they don't tell you?

It should be in the instruction manuel under specifications. I'm not sure how they calculate it. And yes higher signal to noise is also good, but I would put my money on THD. I picked a random radio off of Alpines website and looked it up. Check it out if you have any questions I'll try to answer it.
