so i need help building a sub box..

basically what happened is i added a 400 watt amp to my stock sub, had it at about 200 watts bridged which was too much power for it anyways and blew out the stock 10. i hacked up my stock sub box and put a 12 in pioneer sub into it and it doesnt hit at all... so my question is how do you figure out how to make the right sized box as far as cubic feet inside. i know theres a formula but i cant find it YES I USED THE SEARCH YES I USED THE SEARCH YES I USED THE SEARCH. ideally i want to make a ported box but a sealed box will work too that fits into the stock location. thanks for the help

I have always went off the manual that came with the sub. Most subs will include ported, sealed, and bandpass recomended enclosure sizes.

Sealed is the best "deep sound" bass and is great for the cobalt but that my opinion. I made my box 15*14*14 pretty simple

the louder u get the harder it is going to be to make ur car not rattle. if u want to feel it then its going to rattle more. a cheap ass bandpass box tuned to 60 will rattle less then a big ol ported box tuned to 32 but u wont feel anything with the bandpass box.

sealed works too and its harder to mess up buidling the box. but again the louder u get the more rattles. my car is proof sealed can be the **** but i spent alot in sound dampening

got lucky today.. my cousin had a sealed dual 12 box he was gonna throw away (it was perfectly fine but he built another dual 12 so didnt need this one) so i went ahead and hacked it in half, covered the other side with the extra carpet (which cant be seen anyways with the way i placed the box) and it basically fits in the original location.. pics tomorow when theres light out. thanks for the help guys.. this setup is temporary, eventually i want to make it look like allgood customs setup..
